In 2017 Halifa Gaqypuly Altay, a scientist-theologian, well-known in the
Moslim World is 100 years since birthday.
Halifa Gaqypuly Altay (25.12.1917 – 15.08.2003) was a prominent
member of the Kazakh people, native of the Altay okrug, Chinese province
Xinjiang (now XUAR), the first translator and editor of the Scripture Koran in
Kazakh, a theologian, Islamic Studies specialist, writer, historian,
ethnographer, turcologist, translator. He is known as a large Public Figure,
the first laureate of the «Alash» International award, a member of the
Kazakhstan Union of Writers, member of the editorial board of the
«Turkistan» newspaper, delegate of the I World Kurultay of the Kazakhs.
The offered index is a continuation of the «Biobibliography of scientists
of Kazakhstan» series.
The biobibliography includes materials characterizing life and creative
activities of Halifa Altay, a list of his publications and literature on him.
Materials in the index are arranged in chronological order, within of
each year – by alphabet for all types of documents: at first there are works,
published in Kazakh.
In the alphabetical index of the works names references are given
according to the ordinal numbers of the works, placed in chronological index
of works.
Biobibliography includes an annotated name index, name and
geographical indices.
